Common leisure activities for the whole family such as hiking excursions, bike tours and sightseeing are just as much a part of the holiday experience at Sonnenhof Ottrau as water skiing on the nearby Ibrastausee, playing golf or fishing in Oberaula and, in winter, tobogganing and skiing on the Eisenberg. Particularly noteworthy is the well-tended outdoor swimming pool just 5 minutes' walk from the farm. While your children inquire about the farm or take care of the animals, you can relax in the sun and enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the Sonnenhof. In addition to the two horses Jule and Jessica, the turtles Ernie and Bert, the rabbits Lina and Bell, the dwarf goats Balou and Pepe, the two Maltese Nelly and Socke and the four chickens Sprat, Frieda, Trude and Wilma live on the farm. In the morning, your children can fetch the breakfast eggs straight from the nest.Our tinker ponies Jessica and Jule look forward to being cleaned and looked after by the children. One of the many offers on the farm is, among other things, riding education for children. For trips with the family, there are hiking routes right outside the door. In your welcome folder you will find various excursion destinations, leisure activities and cycling and hiking tours, including to the nearby Seppelsee, a visit to the half-timbered old town of Alsfeld and Herzberg Castle.A climbing frame with a slide, swings, climbing wall and sandpit is available for your children. In addition, your children will find a wooden horse with a braided mane and a giant swing on the farm. Berg go-karts, pedal tractors and small vehicles make children's hearts beat faster. The fireplace for bread evenings, the nearby football field and the huge orchard with apple, pear and cherry trees provide variety right on the farm. The Weber gas grill for barbecues can be used at any time by arrangement.In bad weather, your children will find a table football, dart board and table tennis table, a trampoline and seating for handicrafts and games in our leisure room. A small collection of games with board and card games for children is available to our guests at any time.

A holiday like a journey through timeHoliday like the farmers lived 100 years ago - an adventure for the whole family and a break from the comfort of our everyday life. No power connection. No faucet. You read that right! In the "Old Chicken House" you go on vacation, just like the farmers lived 100 years ago. A wood-burning stove for cooking (kitchen witch), a washbasin with a pitcher for brushing your teeth, a zinc bathtub and a rustic holiday that you will remember forever.You get up in the morning and stoke the fire in the stove to pour yourself the first cup of freshly ground coffee. Not with the coffee machine, but freshly ground with the hand grinder and an enamel coffee pot. Just like the great-grandmother used to do it.The apartment quickly warms up comfortably and there are fresh rolls on the wooden table in the kitchen. After breakfast, the dishes must be washed in the zinc tub. Everyone helps and even the children are enthusiastic about this "strange" way of life.Then it's off to chop wood, because the fire in the oven needs to be fed. Preparations for lunch are already underway and the morning passes quickly. After washing up, lie comfortably in the sun or explore the town with its old houses and parts of the castle.In the evening there are thick slices of bread with sausage and cheese or there are sausages and bread on a stick by the campfire with a swivel grill. And after washing up, the oil lamps and candles are lit so that you can play a little more comfortably at the table or spend the evening with stories and fairy tales. Then it's time to wash and go up the ladder to the "hay store". Snuggled up in your sleeping bag, you can review the day. This is vacation like the farmers lived 100 years ago. This is a holiday like time travel.

Your holiday arrival is possible from 2 p.m. or by individual arrangement. On the day of departure you can use the apartment until 10 a.m. or longer by arrangement.Our holiday apartment, the apartment and the leisure room as well as the barn are non-smoking areas. Ashtrays are available in the courtyard or on the balcony next to the apartment.Due to the large number of animals on the farm, pets are not allowed. A deposit of 50% of the holiday price will be charged after receipt of the booking.Cancellation conditions:Special regulations during the Corona period are possible after a written agreement.In principle, a free cancellation is possible up to 90 days before your arrival, after which 70% of the total price will be charged as cancellation costs. If you cancel within 14 days before arrival, we will charge 90% cancellation costs. We strongly recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance.

You can easily reach your farm holiday at Sonnenhof Ottrau via the A7 motorway, Alsfeld Ost exit. Follow the signs towards Alsfeld and after approx. 2 km turn right at the first crossroads towards Eudorf. At the end of Eudorf, turn right towards Hattendorf. In Hattendorf take the first left and at the next right again towards Immichenhain. Continue straight through a small piece of forest at the end of which you will already see the Ottrau sign. In Ottrau go straight on. Immediately after the "Gutkauf" grocery store, turn left into Neukirchener Straße and after approx. 700 meters right into Ottergasse. On the corner you can already see the Sonnenhof and the guest parking spaces at Burggasse 14.
